Little Amish Girl Dies As Homes Go Up in Flames
Sugarcreek, Ohio. — The body of two and a half year old Anna Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Miller, was recovered from the smoking ruins after fire destroyed a double Amish home in Becks Mills, near Millersburg.
The fire started when an old stove being used for baking exploded. It spread rapidly through the frame house as well as the attached house occupied by the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ammon Miller. Loss was estimated at $12,000.
When it was found that the little girl was in the burning house, a Millersburg fireman tried to enter the sturcture [sic] but was knocked back 20 feet by an explosion. The grandfather also tried to save the child and suffered slight burns.
