Henderson, Neb. Farmer Dies Unexpectedly

Henderson, Neb. — Daniel A. Mierau, 49, well-known farmer here, died unexpectedly the morning of Jan. 28 at his home near Henderson.

Mr. Mierau grew up in this community and then moved to Indiana where he resided for a number of years. He returned here in 1949 following the death of his first wife, Dorothy, and a son Elmer, aged one year and 10 months.

In 1950 he was married to Elizabeth Thieszen, who survives with two daughters, LuElla, 14, and Evelyn, 9; two brothers, three sisters, and his mother, Mrs. Maria Mierau, all of Henderson.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bethesda Mennonite Church on Jan. 31 by Rev. Paul Isaak and Rev. John Thiessen.

DANIEL A. MIERAU

Daniel A. Mierau was born on Sept. 8, 1914, to Cornelius J. and Maria (Peters) Meirau [sic Mierau], near Henderson, Neb., where he grew to manhood. He passed away suddenly at his farm home on Jan. 28, 1964, at the age of 49 years, four months and 20 days.

On June 10, 1935, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour, and became a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson, where he was a faithful member at the time of his death.

In 1941 he entered Civilian Public Service and served in Colorado Springs, Colo., in Montana and at Ypsilanti, Mich. for a term of four and one-half years. At Ypsilanti he met Dorothy Eichelberger of Hebron, Ind., and they were united in marriage on Feb. 6, 1946. They made their home in the Hebron area.

To them were born two children, Elmer Lee, who met accidental death by drowning before he was two years old; and Lou Ella, now 14. On Aug. 23, 1949 his wife, Dorothy, passed away when Lou Ella was but 16 days old. Soon thereafter he and Lou Ella moved back to Henderson and lived with his mother for a while. On May 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Thieszen. They lived in Henderson for nearly a year, after which they moved to the farm where they have resided since. To them was born one daughter, Evelyn, now 9.

Surviving are his widow, Elizabeth, two daughters, Lou Ella and Evelyn; his mother, two brothers, Alvin of Omaha and Cornelius of Henderson; three sisters, (Lizzie) Mrs. Gustav Epp, (Matilda) Mrs. A. A. Friesen, (Elma) Mrs. Howard Buller, all of Henderson, and other relatives and friends. — The Family.
