Goshen, Ind. — Dr. Jacob C. Meyer, whose career as an educator spanned 60 years, died at Goshen General hospital on Sept. 14 about an hour and a half after suffering a heart attack at his Goshen home.
A native of Sterling, Ohio, Dr. Meyer began his teaching career at the age of 15 in a one-room school near his home. He was later graduated from Goshen College, received a master's degree in education from Indiana University and a master's degree in history from Harvard University. Following World War I he served in a builders organization in France under the Friends Church.
He taught at Goshen College and the University of Chicago, and in 1924 received his doctorate from Harvard.
