18-Year-Old Girl Dies When Car Hits Bus

Ephrata, Pa. — Nearly 1,000 persons attended funeral services at the Weaverland Mennonite Church on Dec. 26 for Janice Lou Martin, 18, who died in a car-bus crash Dec. 23.

Janice, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Walter H. Martin of rural East Earl, was on the way to her job as a secretary in Morgantown when her Volkswagen skidded on the icy highway and crashed into an empty Tri-County Bus operated by Harvey Beiler of Elverson.

The young woman was a graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School and a member of the Lichty Mennonite Church. Surviving besides her parents are four sisters and four brothers, and a grandfather Harry E. Sauder of New Holland.
