Aged Man Killed When Hit by Auto
Ephrata, Pa. — Funeral services were held March 25 at the Weaverland Mennonite Church for Ivan S. Martin, 79, who was fatally injured on March 22 when hit by an auto at Blue Ball.
The aged man and his wife Lena, 78, were crossing Route 23 in Blue Ball after 8 p.m. when they were hit by a car driven by John M. Good, 20, of New Holland. Mr. Martin was taken to a hospital in Lancaster where he died at 10:45 p.m. Mrs. Martin suffered only minor injuries.
Officers reported that the couple apparently failed to notice the approaching car, and since they were wearing black clothing, the driver did not see them in time to avoid the accident.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin lived near Blue Ball, having retired from the farm.
