MRS. SUSIE BARTEL

William Cornelius Martens of Kamloops, B.C. passed away suddenly on December 26. He was born to John and Amelia (nee Martens) Martens in Winnipeg on November 24, 1927. His family moved to Greendale, B.C. in 1936. In 1946 he joined the Merchant Navy and in 1951 he joined the RCAF. He married Mary Elizabeth Thrussel in 1951. He established Martens Music School in northern Alberta, and became well-known there as a music teacher. At the time of his death he was employed by the B.C . Corps of Commissionaires. He is survived by his wife Mary; five sons and one daughter, Kenneth and Linda, Karl and Vonie, Keith, Kerry and Kevin, and Karon and Doug Anderson, all of Edmonton; step-parents Peter and Helen Reimer of Clearbrook, B.C .; five brothers and two sisters, John and Clair of Victoria, Henry and Betty of Vancouver, Frank and Esther in Uruguay, Vern and Ruth of Armstrong, B.C., Vic and Rosie of Abbotsford, B.C., Helen and Dan Nickel in Indonesia and Charlotte and Bill Dyck of Reedley, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.
