MRS. PETE MARTENS

Justina (Nikkle) Martens was born at Hillsboro, Kansas, August 17, 1912, and passed away July 31, 1955, at 7:15 p. m. in the Glenn General Hospital, Willows, California. She reached the age of 42 years, 11 months and 14 days.

At the age of 21 she sought and found salvation by faith in Christ, receiving forgiveness of her sins and peace with her Lord, and united with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite through baptism, remaining a faithful member to the end.

On July 17, 1938, she was married to Pete Martens at Inman, Kansas, in the Zion Mennonite church. At this time they settled at Hillsboro, Kansas, and later moved to different parts of that state, — then to Winton, Calif., and of late to Glenn, Calif., where she met her sudden and tragic death through an automobile accident from which she never regained consciousness.

To this union were born six children, of which one daughter preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Pete Martens; three sons, Eugene, 16, Jay Dean; 11, Galen, 6; two daughters, Roselene, 13, and Delores, 9; and the following brothers and sisters, Pete Nikkle, Mary Penner, and Antone Nikkle of Inman, Kan.; Margaret Ensz, Agnes Hiebert, and Aaron Nikkle of Hillsboro, Kan.; Anna Penner, Eva Ensz, and Ben Nikkle of Conway, Kan., Helen Wiebe, Lehigh, Kan., Susie Loewen, Winton, Calif., Katherine Friesen, Glenn, Calif., Dave Nikkle, Salem, Oregon, Henry Nikkel, Denver, Colorado, and a host of relatives and friends.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always helping wherever she could, and patiently laboring for those near and dear to her.

We mourn, but not as those who have no hope, for we feel assured that she has gone to be with the Lord.

Funeral services were held at the Glenn Mennonite church Thursday morning, Aug. 2, 1955. Min. J. H. Loewen spike Jesus' wonderful words of comfort from John 14: 1, 2, and 3 and Rev. 14: 12 and 13. Min A. T. Koehn and Min. Dave Dyck assisted in the services at the church and Min. Jesse Koehn read John 11:25 at the graveside services. She was laid to rest in the Willows Cemetery.
