ROSE MARGUERITE MAGINES

Rose Marguerite Magines, daughter of Henry and Nora (Holleroft) Magines, was born July28, 1913 at Gravois Mills, Mo. she passed away at the Mennonite Hospital, La Junta, Colo. on May 26, 1961, at the age of 47 years, nine months, and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her father and one half-brother, Elliott.

Except for a few years, she had been a resident of La Junta since July 4, 1938. She spent a number of years as an employee of the Mennonite Hospital and Sanatorium. Her health failed so she was also a patient in this institution for about five years. She regained sufficient health that she was able to care for herself and live for about 11 more years in her own home.

Rose accepted Chris as her Saviour at about 20 years of age. At that time she was admitted by baptism as a member of the Mennonite Church in Kansas City, Kansas.

Among the fine contributions she has made to others during her life are many deeply spiritual truths expressed in poetry. The poem “God Holds My Hand” has been set to music and was included in the book “Songs of the Church” published in 1953 by Herald Press.

Surviving her departure are her mother, two sisters, Mrs. Otis (Ruby) Sanders, McGirk, Mo. and Mrs. Edward (Frances) Diener, Canby, Ore.; one brother, Ray Magines, Portland, Oregon; two half sisters, Mrs. Cletus (Velma) Woods, Gravois Mills, Mo. and Mrs. Merrit (Maude) Hilt, Kansas City, Kan.; nine nephews and seven nieces. She also leaves a host of dear friends.

Funeral services were conducted at La Junta, Colo. on May 28 by Bro. M. M. Troyer and at the Mt. Zion Church near Versailles, Mo. on May 31 by Leroy Gingerich, assisted by J. P. Brubaker. Interment was made in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
