LEONARD LUGOWSKI
Leonard Lugowski died Oct. 22, 2007 at age 86.
He was born May 10, 1921 in Wolla Wodzinska,
Poland to Julius and Hulda Lugowski. Leonard
enjoyed a peaceful and prosperous family life
on the farm, was baptized at 10, and then
conscripted to the German army at 19. Unlike
his brothers Artur and Ewald, he survived
WWII, spending two agonizing years in
Russian prison camps. In 1949, he moved to
Kitchener, Ont. with the help of Mennonite
Central Committee, and soon married Annie
Wohlgemuth. Leonard worked as a carpenter
and then in tool and die design, serving with
Annie as a deacon at Kitchener MB Church
for 38 years. Joyfully, they used their gifts of
generosity, hospitality, and selfless love. Len
loved singing in choirs, travelling and helping
on building projects. Leonard is mourned by
Annie; children Linda, Paul, Doris, and Ron;
15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. The
memorial service was Oct. 26 at Kitchener MB
Church.
