— Funeral services were held at the Hebron Mennonite church east of Buhler on Tuesday for H. M. Lohrenz [sic Lohrentz], who passed away suddenly last Saturday. He was walking to Buhler to secure aid for his truck, which had broken down about a mile out of town, when he was suddenly stricken and died. He was found by a passer-by. His wife, five daughters and one son survive. Mr. Lohrenz [sic Lohrentz] formerly lived in Harvey county and is well known here.

HENRY M. LOHRENTZ

Henry M. Lohrentz, son of Maria (Martens) Lohrentz, was born near Moundridge, Kansas on February 16, 1889, and died of heart failure near Buhler on March 6, 1948, at the age of 59 years and 20 days. He spent his childhood days on his father's farm near Moundridge and received his grade school education in the Berlin public school.

On August 12, 1906, he publicly confessed Jesus Christ as his Saviour in baptism, together with over 30 other young people, including three of his brothers and sisters. They were baptized by his uncle, Elder Abraham Martens.

On June 11, 1911, he was united in marriage with Margaret Friesen. Together they were privileged to share life's joys and sorrows for over 36 years. To this union five daughters and one son were born, all of whom were present at the funeral.

They made their home near their parents' home. In 1930, they moved to Dalhart, Texas, where they took an active part in the work of the church and Sunday School. They returned to Kansas in 1936 to establish their present home.

The departed leaves to mourn his passing his widow, Margaret, and their six children with their families: Luella, Mrs. Alfred Mueller of Halstead, Ruth, Mrs. John Thiessen of Sanger, Calif., Irma, Mrs. Myles Alden of Waukegan, Ill., Dorothy, Mrs. Marvin Ediger of Moundridge. Kansas, Nora Jane, Mrs. Raymond Goering of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, and Quinton, at present a student in Chicago. There are eight grandchildren.

Of his own immediate family he is survived by his three brothers, Abraham, Peter, and David, and his five sisters, Marie and Agnes, Sisters in the Bethel Deaconess Home, Elizabeth, Mrs. J. M. Regier, Anna, Mrs. Sam Regier, and Sarah, Mrs. Gustav Gaeddert. There are also nine uncles and aunts who survive.
