. . .
• Funeral services for David Lohrentz, 68, who suffered a fatal heart attack Sunday afternoon while watching firemen battle a grass fire southeast of Buhler, were announced for Wednesday afternoon at the Hebron Mennonite Church, of which he was a member. A long-time resident of Buhler, Mr. Lohrentz was employed by the city water department there. He was watching firemen extinguish flames which threatened the John Peters farm buildings when stricken. Firemen from four departments spent a large part of the day fighting the grass fire, which burned off about three sections before it was contained. Mr. Lohrentz leaves his widow, Sarah; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Schmidt of Inman; two sons, Milton of Tucson, Ariz. and James K. of Buhler. He was a brother of Mrs. G. R. Gaeddert, Mrs. Sam Regier, and Sister Agnes Lohrentz, all of this community, and of P. M. Lohrentz, Buhler.

DAVID LOHRENTZ
David Lohrentz, son of Jacob and Maria Martens Lohrentz, was born Nov. 26, 1899, at Moundridge, Kan. He received his boyhood education at the Berlin School, rural Moundridge. Later he had the privilege of attending Bethel College Academy at North Newton, Kan. for one year.
On June 28, 1918, he was baptized by Elder A. M. Martens, and became a member of the Hebron Mennonite Church, where he remained a member until his departure from this life.
On Sept. 3, 1922, he was married to Sarah Franz, and together they established their home on a farm, which was his home place. To this union were born three children: Edna, Milton, and James. He and his wife were privileged to commemorate 45 years of married life together on Sept. 3, 1967.
Our husband and father found a great deal of pleasure in nature and in singing. His most recent enjoyment was that of participating in the adult Mid-Week Study Class on Christian Stewardship, which was concluded at the Hebron Church just one and a half weeks before he died.
The Lohrentz family moved from the farm to Buhler, Kan. in 1936. Our husband and father was involved in farming until 1943, but finding farming difficult, he was led to find employment elsewhere. At the time of his death he was a part-time employee of the City of Buhler.
He was hospitalized with a heart attack on April 22, 1963. following his recovery he was able to carry on a normal life until the day of his death on March 17, 1968, when he suffered a fatal heart attack while observing a prairie fire southeast of Buhler. He had attained the age of 68 years, three months, and 21 days.
He leaves to mourn his widow, Sarah; one daughter Edna and husband Elmer Schmidt of Inman; two sons, Milton and wife June of Tucson, Ariz., and James and wife Marilyn of Buhler. He also leaves eight grandchildren, three of whom are married, and two great grandchildren. In addition to the immediate family he leaves one brother, P. M. Lohrentz of Buhler, and three sisters, Sarah, Mrs. G. R. Gaeddert and Anna, Mrs. Sam Regier, both of North Newton, Kan., as well as Sister Agnes of the Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton. — The Family.
