Mrs. Jessie Peters Loewen was born in Southern Russia on Nov. 16, 1899. She came to the United States with her parents and four sisters when she was three years old. The family settled in Oklahoma where Jessie received her early education in the public schools.

In 1914 the family homesteaded in Montana, about 30 miles north of Chinook. Jessie had 13 brothers and sisters. One older sister stayed in Oklahoma. Her mother and father, three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. In 1915 as a young girl she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized on June 12, 1915, when she joined the Mennonite Brethren Church.

Jessie Peters and Frank F. Loewen were united in marriage on July 7, 1918 by Rev. John M. Enns of the Mennonite Brethren Church. They spent their first 28 years of married life in Chinook, Mont. where five children were born to them. They are John Alvin, Irene, Margaret, Alice Jean, and Frances.

Frank and Jessie Loewen with their two youngest daughters moved to Washington in 1946. They became members of the Glendale Mennonite Church. Jessie was an active member of the Mission Circle and her first love in the church was the mission field.

Our wife and mother spent much time in reading and praying. She was much concerned about the spiritual welfare of her loved ones.

She passed away of a heart attack on March 14, 1963, thus bringing her age to 63 years, three months, and 28 days. Funeral services were held on Mar. 18 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Suderman officiating. Her final resting place is the Enterprise Cemetery.
