WILLIAM W. LOEWEN

William W. Loewen of Meade, Kan. was born to Heinrich and Maria (Wiens) Loewen on a farm near Jansen, Nebr. on March 21, 1902. His family moved to Meade in 1907. He was baptized upon his confession of faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on May 29, 11921 by Rev. Jacob F. Isaac and received into the membership of the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Meade.

He was married to Margaret J. Isaac on Nov. 20, 1921 by the bride's father, Rev. Jacob F. Isaac. They shared joys and sorrows for almost 48 years. Two sons were born to this union. They lived on a farm near Meade where he also operated a repair shop. He moved the shop into Meade in 1962.

On March 10, 1964 he transferred his membership to the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church, Meade, where he remained a member until his death. He was deeply concerned about the spiritual welfare of his church and the spread of the gospel. He taught Sunday school classes for a number of years and sought to serve the Lord in whatever capacity he could. He found special joy in encouraging the men to participate in fellowship groups such as the Men's Chorus.

He suffered a heart attack on Oct. 28, 1969. During his hospitalization his main concern continued to be that God's will be done. He was especially comforted by the Scriptures during this time. He passed on to his eternal home on Nov. 12, 1969, reaching the age of 67 years, seven months and 11 days.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of his life are his wife, Margaret; two sons, Merle and wife Betty of Emporia, Kan. and Roland and wife Gladyce of El Paso, Ill.; five grandchildren; five brothers; Peter E., Jacob E., Abe E., and Isaac W. of Meade, and George M. Doerksen of Reedley, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends. His parents, five brothers (two in infancy), and six sister preceded him in death.
