SARAH G. LOEWEN

The daughter of George J. and Agatha Friesen, (Mrs.) Sarah Loewen was born on December 2, 1899 in Joes, Colorado. After a period of hospitalization in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, following a stroke, she passed on in peace to meet her Saviour early in the fall of 1977. At the age of 14 years she yielded her life to the Lord and followed him in baptism. She joined the Rose Hill Mennonite Brethren Church in Munich, North Dakota. At the age of 19 she moved with her family to Hepburn, Saskatchewan and was able to attend Bethany Bible Institute for two years.

After being neighbours for many years, Sarah and Abraham Loewen were married on October 16, 1948. They moved to Saskatoon and attended the 33rd St. Church until 1964, when they moved to the new Nutana Church. Here she found joy in serving in the Ladies' Christian Fellowship. Although a shy person, she enjoyed fellowship with other Christians. She enjoyed life and laughter and was often the source of much humour. She took pride in her responsibilities as a good housewife, and was willing to go out of her way for someone in need. She always enjoyed travelling, and a highlight was an extended trip to Hawaii in 1974.

She is mourned by her loving husband, Abraham; a brother and his wife, John and Anne Friesen; a sister, (Mrs.) Mary Sukkau; two sisters-in-law, (Mrs.) Nettie Friesen and (Mrs.) Lydia Friesen; the Loewen family; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
