PHILIP LOEWEN

Philip Loewen of Hepburn, Sask., passed on to be with the Lord on June 17 at the age of 67. He was born on October 22, 1907, the first child of his parents, at the family homestead at Langham, Sask. He grew up in a God·fearing home and enjoyed many happy experiences with his parents. In his later teens he found salvation through Christ and on August 4, 1930 he was baptized upon his confession of faith and became a member of the Hepburn (Sask.) Mennonite Brethren Church. Though he was not spared inner struggles, he always found new strength in the Word of God. He attended Bethany Bible Institute and graduated with the first class in 1928.

On November 26, 1933 he was united in marriage with Tina Friesen of Hepburn, a marriage blessed with two sons, Edmund and John. They spent many years farming at Hepburn and enjoying the fellowship of the church. His first wife passed away in 1969. He was given a second helpmate in Betty Loewen of Yarrow, B.C. in 1970, a union that brought many happy times together.

He is survived by his wife Betty; two sons, Edmund and John, and their spouses, of Saskatoon; seven grandchildren; four brothers, and their families and two sisters and their families; and his mother, at the Holiday Home in Langham, Sask.
