text of obituary:
MARGARET C. LOEWEN
Mrs. Margaret C. Loewen, nee Reimer, was born at Meade, Kan. on July 28,1924, and reached the age of 33 years and one month. In her childhood the family moved to the San Luis Valley of Colorado. There she received her elementary schooling. After four years the family returned to the former place of residence. Here she attended Bible school.
Early in life she became aware of her personal spiritual needs and came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour. Upon her personal confession of that faith she was baptized on Sept. 5, 1943, and soon thereupon was received into the membership of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Meade, Kan. To this fellowship she remained true until her death.
On Nov. 29, 1946, she was joined in marriage to John F. Loewen. To this union were born four children, one son and three daughters. Many were the blessings of God in the home and family, however, not without also a share of testings and disappointments.
In May 1955 a distrubing [sic] ailment became apparent in the form of a gradual paralysis. While from the very start God's gracious intervention and medical help were unceasingly sought, still her condition steadily worsened. Two different periods were spent in a Wichita hospital. In April 1957 she was subjected to surgery at the K. U. Medical Center which revealed an unremoveable [sic] brain tumor. The knowledge of this condition occasioned many severe trials in her soul, but in all them she remained resolute and patient even after becoming paralyzed in body and mind. During her last month of suffering any communication was but fragmentary. On Aug. 28 at 8:30 in the evening it pleased the Lord to relieve her of all suffering by calling her out from her earthly pilgrimage into His Divine presence and heavenly rest.
She leaves to mourn her departure: Her husband, John F. Loewen; three daughters, Rosina, Elleen and Stella, and one son, Dwight, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Jacob A. Reimer of Meade; seven brothers, Ben, Pete, Dave, Herman and Ervin, all of Meade, John of Plains, Kan. and Aaron of Hillsboro, Kan.; her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob E. Loewen, of Meade; six sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her father in 1956, her only sister, Mathilda, in 1954, and a brother, Thomas, in 1941.
While we continue in this earthly vale, she has gone on to look upon Him whom she trusted as her Saviour in life. With the apostle of old she can now say, “I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.” The substance of her faith is now realized. — The Husband and Family.
