HENRY E. LOEWEN

Henry E. Loewen was born on Nov. 14, 1888 to Henry and Margaretha (Friesen) Loewen at Jansen, Neb. He died in Meade, Kan. District Hospital on March 3, 1967 at the age of 78 years, three months, and 17 days.

At the age of 18, in August 1907, he moved to Meade with his parents. He was baptized upon confession of his faith on May 31, 1909 by Elder Abram L. Friesen and received into the Mennonite Church. On April 27, 1944 he joined the newly organized Emmanuel Mennonite Church.

On June 9, 1929 he was married to Agnes Harms at Fairbury, Neb. Not having any children of our own, we took great delight in having Harvey Thiessen, a nephew, make his home with us for several years after his grandmother passed away.

Farming was my husband's lifetime profession. He did threshing in his earlier years.

He suffered a heart attack in 1957 while visiting at Tucson, Ariz. Just two weeks after his first attack he suffered another one and several more in the ensuing years. The immediate cause of death was a stroke of paralysis.

He leaves to mourn his wife, Agnes; five brothers, Peter E., Jacob E. (his twin brother), Abe E., Will W., and Isaac W., all of Meade; and one sister, Mrs. Maria Isaac of Dinuba, Calif. One brother and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church at Meade, with Rev. John K. Reiner [sic Reimer], Meade, and Rev. J. W. Fast of Marshall, Ark. officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
