DAVID A. LOEWEN
David A. Loewen was born to Abraham and Susanna Loewen on March 4, 1895 in Podolsk, Neu Samara in Russia. He experienced the new birth and was baptized in 1917. On May 28, 1918 he was united in marriage to Lena, daughter of Henry and Susanna, Nickel. Three daughters and one son were born to them infancy. In 1924 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in the Beechy-Demaine area in Saskatchewan. Here nine more children were born to them of which one son died in infancy. In 1946 the family moved to Ontario and fellow-shipped with the Virgil MB Church.
In 1968 Mr. and Mrs. Loewen celebrated their golden wedding. One year later Mrs. Loewen went to be with her Saviour. In the spring of 1970 it was found that Mr. Loewen had cancer. The Lord took him home on September 30 at the age of 75. Funeral services were held on October 3 in the Virgil Church. Rev. George Wichert, for many years a neighbour of the Loewen family, pointed out that Mr. Loewen's life and home going was to become for us a change and an encouragement. Rev. J .G. Baerg related that when Mr. Loewen had been questioned concerning his home going his answer had been: "It's just taking too long."
He is survived by three sons: Henry, Sault Ste. Marie; Frank, St. Catharines; Jacob, London, Ont.; seven daughters: Mrs. John (Susan) Heinrichs; Mrs. Henry (Agnes) Martens; Mrs. Peter (Erna ) Heinrichs, all in Saskatchewan; Helena, SIM missionary to Nigeria, presently home on furlough; Mrs. Kurt (Ann) Wagner, London, Ont.; Mrs. Walter (Tina) Toman, Kitchener; and Mrs .
