LUTHER LITKE, 22, KILLED WHILE CHANGING TIRE AT NORTH EDGE OF PEABODY
Hillsboro, Kans., march 12. — Luther Litke, 22 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Litke of Marion, was struck by a car at the north edge of Peabody Friday night at about 9 p.m. and died a few minutes after being brought tot the hospital in Hillsboro.
Mr. Litke had gone to Peabody to get some repairs for his car and had taken Mr. and Mrs. Jake Klassen along with him. coming out of town he had a tire go down and stopped some distance south of the curve at the north end of main street to change tires.
The change was made and Mr. Klassen was putting the spare back in the trunk while Mr. Litke was tightening the hub nuts. Suddenly a car came from the east on the highway and turned south. In order to miss a car standing on the west side of the street the driver, Mr. Harding of Emporia, cut to the east side of the street and struck Mr. Litke throwing him several feet down the street. Mr. Harding rushed Mr. Litke to a doctor in Peabody and it was decided to bring him to the Hospital in Hillsboro by ambulance. Young Mr. Litke died a few minutes after reaching the hospital.
Funeral services were held in the Ebenfeld church Wednesday afternoon. — Hillsboro Star.
