SUSANNA KATHRYN LINGENFELDER

Susanna Kathryn Lingenfelder of North Newton, Kans., was born at Hanston, Kans., Sept 1, 1889. She departed this life Dec. 9, 1943. She was the daughter of Rev. John P. Miller and Magdalene Hubin Miller. On Aug. 12, 1912 she was married to Mr. J. H. Lingenfelder of Hanston, Kans. Two daughters were born to this union, Linda (Mrs. Max Regier) of Newton and Berniece of the home.

The family resided at Hanston, Kans., until Sept., 1942, when they moved to North Newton.

In her early girlhood Mrs. Lingenfelder was baptised by her father and was a faithful member of the Hanston, Mennonite church until she moved to North Newton, at which time she transferred her membership to the Bethel College Mennonite church.

Although she was an invalid and constant sufferer the last four years of her life, she was an inspiration to her family and her many friends. Her memory will be a benediction to all who touched her life.

Besides here [sic] husband, here [sic] two daughters and her little grand-daughter Rosalind Regier, she leaves to mourn her death three brothers and three sistes [sic]. J. A. Miller and Ed Miller of Hanston; A. R. Miller of Venice, Calif.; Mrs. Mina Ewy of Abeline [sic Abilene], Kans.; Mrs. Elizabeth Lingenfelder of Hanston, Kans., and Mrs. Anna M. Baumgartner of North Newton. The following preceded her in death: R. A. Miller, John E. Miller and Mrs. Emma Bauer.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel College chapel Saturday, Dec. 11. Rev. Lester Hostetler conducted the service, the Bethel a cappella choir under the direction of Walter H. Hohman sang favorite hymns of Mrs. Lingenfelder. "O Perfect Love," "Near to the Heart of God" and "O Power of Love". Miss Ruth Detweiler at the organ, accompanied by Rupert Hohman on the violin, played softly "Londonderry Air" and "Ave Maria." These also were favorite selections of the deceased. Pallbearers were Leonard Kreider, A. J. Regier, Willis Rich, Ralph C. Kauffman, Val Krehbiel and J. J. Siemens. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Dick A. Morris of the Morris Mortuary.
