ELIZABETH MILLER LINGENFELDER

Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. John P. and Magdalena Miller, was born December 3, 1884. She departed from this life December 12, 1944, aged 60 years and nine days.

She came to the Hanston, Kansas, community with her pioneer parents, as an infant, in the spring of 1885. She lived and served in this community throughout her entire lifetime. In the spring of 1903 she was baptized by her father and received into the Hanston Mennonite church. She was a most loyal and devoted and active member of this church until her passing away. She will be very greatly missed in all the church activities and services.

On May 12, 1910 she was united in marriage by her father, to John Lingenfelder. Together they established their home in the house prepared by them and they spent 34 years of happy wedded life in this home. They loved to entertain their relatives and many friends in their attractive home.

She valued the friendship of others highly and made friends readily and was a friend to others, always ready to do the helpful deeds for others. She is survived by her sorrowing husband, three brothers, J. A. and E. D. Miller of Hanston, A. R. Miller of Venice, Cal., two sisters, Mrs. Mina Ewy, Abilene, Kans. and Mrs. Paul Baumgartner, North newton, Kans. Besides these many relatives and a large circle of friends mourn her departure.

She will be sorely missed in her home, her church, her community, in her wide circle of friends and relatives. Those who knew her best, loved her the most and will keep her in loving remembrance. Hers was a truly large life, a real asset to the community.

Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. S. Bechtel, in the Hanston Mennonite church on Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, and were very largely attended. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Her body was tenderly laid away in the Church cemetery to await the resurrection morning. Three favorite hymns were sung by a girl's trio. "Abide With Me," "Hold Thou my Hand, O Father" and "Near To the Heart of God." Six nephews served as pall-bearers.
