• The head-on collision of a pickup truck and a semi-trailer a short distance east of Yoder on Nov. 4 claimed the life of Richard L. Lightbody, of Wichita, driver of the pickup, and seriously injured his passenger, Thanni Underwood, 26, also of Wichita. The driver of the semi-trailer, 27-year-old Arthur Morey of Hutchinson, escaped with cuts and bruises. Morey, traveling west, came up behind a horse-drawn wagon carrying Mr. and Mrs. Eli Miller and two small children, Amish family living near Yoder. He braked his empty truck, and it swerved into the opposite lane. The Miller family escaped unharmed.
