OSCAR ALBERT LIETZKE

Oscar Albert Lietzke was born on Nov. 4, 1905 at Augusta, Kan., the son of Albert J. and Mary Grant Lietzke. In his early youth he was baptized upon his confession of faith.

On June 8, 1929, he was joined in marriage to Carolyn Weber at El Dorado, Kan. This union was blessed with two children. After moving to Newton, Kan., he rededicated his life to the Lord at special services conducted by Rev. Guido, and he became active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. He served as a teacher of a boys' Sunday school class, and especially enjoyed serving as a church usher.

In January 1958 Carolyn passed away after a lingering illness. On Nov. 2, 1948, he was married to Wilma (Epp) Geer at Newton, Kan. They then both transferred their membership to the Faith Mennonite Church of Newton.

After operating a restaurant there for several years, they moved to Ferndale, Wash. in 1961 and settled on a small poultry ranch. They transferred their church membership to the Glendale Mennonite Church where they attended and participated as much as his health would allow. He loved his church and the fellowship here.

He suffered increasingly from an emphysema condition for about six years. This condition finally forced them to quit the farm in 1970. After frequent stays in the hospital, another problem developed which required surgery on Aug. 10, 1972. He recovered sufficiently to be transferred to the Alderwood Park Convalescent Center on Aug. 14, 1972. He suffered much pain during the last six weeks of his life, and often expressed his desire to go to be with the Lord.

He lapsed into semi-consciousness, and quietly and peacefully slipped from this body into the presence of his Saviour on Aug. 31, 1972, at the age of 66 years.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; a son Bob and wife, Doreen, of Cushing, Okla.; a daughter Virginia and husband, Jim Bocock, of St. Joseph, Mo.; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Harold of El Dorado, Kan., Virgil of Carson, Calif., Don of Augusta, Kan.; and two sisters, Mr. Minnie Van Middlesworth of Newton, Kan. and Mrs. Beulah Anderson of Wichita, Kan. Preceding him in death were one brother and one sister. — The Family.
