Falls From Handle Bars of Bicycle Ridden by Sidney Schroeder.
Vivian, six year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M Libhart, 810 East 5th, was instantly killed last Wednesday afternoon about 5:45 when she fell from a bicycle under the rear wheel of the large truck driven by Reuel Norton of the Norton Monument Works. The accident occurred when Vivian, who was sitting on the handle bard of a bicycle ridden by Sidney Schroeder, ten year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Schroeder of Wichita, became excited and began to wobble the wheel. The truck was coming from the east on east 4th St. and the bicycle was also moving westward. The driver made a very deliberate attempt to pass several feet to the left of the bicycle but the nearness of the truck seems to have excited the little girl so that her movements made Sidney lose control of his wheel. The driver of the truck did not know what had happened till he had gone sever yards further and looked back. Sidney Schroeder escaped with a few scratches when the bicycle was overturned on striking the rear wheel of the truck. The facts in the case completely exhonorate [sic] the driver of the tuck and the boy riding the bicycle. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder were visiting at the J. K. Dirks home when the accident occurred.
