MRS. KATHRINE LEPP

(Mrs.) Kathrina Lepp was born February 22, 1885 in Olgafeld, Russia to David and Agatha Klassen. The family emigrated to Canada in 1903, stopping briefly at Plum Coulee, Man., and then settling on a home· stead in Borden, Sask., in 1904. Together they endured the hardships of pioneer life, and a church was built in the community. At the age of 20 she found peace with God through Jesus, and was baptized.

In 1913 she married Jacob Lepp, accepting responsibility for his six children. Eleven more children were born to the couple, though three died in infancy. Her husband was the church leader for 34 years. The family felt they were spiritually and materially blessed; in adversity they sensed that God was present. The Lepps retired to Dalmeny, Sask., in 1947.

Her husband predeceased her in 1968. She resided for a time in the Dalmeny Home for the Aged, and then in the Nursing Home in Rosthern. In January her health suddenly declined, and she passed away peacefully in February 12. A funeral service was held February 15 in the Dalmeny Mennonite Brethren Church.

She leaved to mourn seven sons, Cornelius, Menno, Ernest, Dave and Waldo of Saskatchewan, Jacob of Clearbrook, B.C. and Albert of Reedley, Calif.; seven daughters, Helena (Mrs. John E.) Quiring, Mary (Mrs. John P.) Unger, Ruth (Mrs. Henry) Bartsh and Alma, all of Saskatchewan, Emma and Amanda (Mrs. Henry) Poetker of India, and Susie (Mrs. G. W.) Peters of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jake Klassen and Abe Klassen, of California; two sisters, Mrs. Abram Wiebe of Virgil, Ont., and Mrs. C. J. Lepp of Dalmeny; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.
