Cornelius J. Lepp

Cornelius J. Lepp of Dalmeny, Sask. passed away Mar. 13. He was born May 24, 1897 to Jacob and Helena Lepp in Mountain Lake, MN. His mother died when he was 1, and his father remarried. They moved to a homestead in Dalmeny, Sask. in fall, 1901. He returned to school, finishing grade 8 at Rosthern German-English Academy. He loved to sing in the church choir and go carolling. He played the home organ until he lost two fingers in a feed grinder. He received the Lord during evangelistic meetings led by Rev. George Schultz in July, 1916 and was baptized by his father in Sept. He married Mary Klassen Nov. 21, 1920. They rented a farm for a year, then moved to Dallas, OR. In 1925 they moved to a farm in Dalmeny. They sold farm produce door to door in Saskatoon, with many weekly customers becoming friends. He was a longtime member of the school board, an active member of Dalmeny Co-op and board member of Dalmeny Rural Telephone Co. At church he was a member of the Fest committee, usher and member of church council. He loved to visit and help neighbours and friends, who enjoyed his hearty laughter. He was interested in foreign missions, BBI and the Canadian MB Conference. He loved to tithe and give generous offerings. He observed regular morning devotions and attended all church services and mid-week prayer meetings. Predeceased by 1 sister, 3 brothers and his first daughter in infancy, he is mourned by his wife; daughters Mary Janzen of Prince Albert, Sask. and Luella Krahn of Saskatoon; sons Henry of Waldheim, Sask. and Paul and Arthur of Saskatoon; 7 grandchildren; 6 sisters and 4 brothers. The funeral was Mar. 16 in Dalmeny Community Church, with Rick McCorkindale and Ben Heppner ministering.
