Well-Known Freeman, S. D. Resident Dies

Freeman, S. D. — Funeral services were held at the Salem Mennonite Church near here for Christian B. Lehmann, 89, a charter member of the Salem congregation and long active in church and community work. He died here Nov. 1.

A native of Deutschof, Germany, he came to Halstead, Kan. as a lad in 1892. In 1902 he came to South Dakota and was married here to Katie Schowalter. The couple farmed west of Hurley fpr 45 years. His first wife died in 1950.

Mr. Lehmann taught Sunday school for about 70 years, served as a deacon of the Salem congregation for many years, and helped establish the Salem Home for Aged here.

Survivors include his second wife, the former Frances Hahneman, three sons and two daughters and their families.
