WALTER HERMANN LEHMANN

Walter H. Lehmann, son of Robert and Mathilda Miller Lehmann, was born August 28, 1877, in Quedlinburg, Germany, and died at his farm home north of Geary, Okla. on July 28, 1958. He reached the age of 80 years and 11 months.

In 1890 the family emigrated to America where they settled in western Kansas. After living some time in Aurora, Mo. they moved to Oklahoma, settling on a farm north of Geary. Here Walter experienced the rigors of early pioneer life in Oklahoma.

On May 5, 1901, he was baptized upon his confession of faith by Rev. J. S. Krehbiel and was accepted into the First Mennonite church of Geary. Here he was a member until his death.

On December 25, 1902, he entered the holy estate of matrimony with Katherine Funk. This union was blessed with five children, four boys and one girl. Two sons and the daughter, Frieda, preceded father into eternity.

Though in good health most of his life, he suffered a stroke five years ago and was bedfast the last two and one-half years. For a man who loved activity the enforced idleness was a severe test, but he bore it bravely and was a good patient till the end.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Katherine, better known as Katie; two children, Herman of the home and Robert of Buena Park, Calif.; one sister Mathilda of Geary; two daughters-in-law, Helen, Mrs. Herman Lehman, and Anita, Mrs. Robert Lehman; eight grandchildren; one great-grand-child; besides a wide circle of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite Church of Geary, and interment was made in the Geary cemetery. Rev. Henry Hege was the officiating minister. — The Family.
