Apple Creek Youth Drowns in Swimming Accident

Apple Creek, Ohio. — Funeral services for John Allen Lehman, 17, of rural Apple Creek, were held Sunday afternoon, June 20, at the Kidron Mennonite Church, Kidron. The youth drowned in a swimming accident at Baylor's Beach on June 12.

The Lehman youth and three other boys were swimming when a woman signaled that Lehman was in trouble. The three companions and a lifeguard retrieved him and resuscitation was applied on the way to the hospital. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival at Massillon City Hospital.

The youth was a member of the Kidron Mennonite Church and of its Youth Fellowship. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lehman of rural Apple Creek, a sister, JoAnne, of the home, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Sommer of Walnut Creek and Rev. and Mrs. Reuben Hofstetter of Kidron.
