SAMUEL H. LEHMAN
Samuel H. Lehman was born June 9, 1896, at Beaver Falls, New York, the son of Christian and Mary B. Zehr Lehman. On Oct. 2, 1919 he was married to Clara Kennel at Millbank, Ontario. He departed this life on March 4, 1968, at the age of 71.
Family services were held at the Castorland home on March 7. A memorial service was held at the First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, N. Y., on March 8. Memorial contributions are being given to the Mennonite Central Committee Relief Fund and the American Bible Society.
Mr. Lehman owned and operated a dairy farm for 38 years before retiring to a small farm in 1961. He was also a carpenter and for 22 years a maple syrup producer. For over 40 years he was intensely involved as a Sunday school teacher. he served on the Village Board and the school board and enjoyed a hunting club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five daughters, Mrs. Isaac (Ilene) Adams of Chaumont, N. Y., Mrs. Charles (Claramae) Klink of Gouverneur, N. Y., Mrs. Dewey (Bernice) Hostetler of Harper, Kan., Mrs. Arnold M. (Dolores) Wedel of North Newton, Kan., Miss Jane Lehman of Castorland, N. Y., seven sons, Ralph of Wadsworth, Ohio, Elkanah of Port Royal, Pa., Walter of newton, Kan., Curtis of Rheems, Pa., Lyle of Athens, Ohio, LaVerne of Dobbd Ferry [sic Dobbs Ferry], N. Y., and Gary of Goshen, Ind.; seven daughters-in-law, four sons-in-law, 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. he is also survived by four sisters and six brothers. one son and three grandchildren preceded him in death.
