MRS. MARY E. LEHMAN

Mrs. Mary E. Loganbill Lehman oldest member of the Bethel Mennonite church at Fortuna, Mo., passed away on Sept. 19 at Bothwell hospital in Sedalia, Mo., having reached the age of 92 years, one month and two days.

A daughter of Peter and Annie Bixler Loganbill, she was born August 17, 1867 at Dalton, Wayne county, Ohio. When a small child she came to Missouri with her parents. As a young girl she was baptized and accepted into the membership of the Bethel Mennonite church, where she was an active member as long as her health would permit, teaching in the Sunday school, singing in the church choir and serving in the missionary society.

On Sept. 10, 1891 she was united in marriage to William H. Lehman, with whom she experienced the joys and sorrows of life, for more than 50 years. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 10, 1941, and Mr. Lehman passed away a short time later, on Oct. 21, 1941. After his death, Mrs. Lehman lived alone as long as her health permitted, but for some time she had been living in the home of her son and his wife.

To this union were born two children, a daughter Otillia who died in infancy, and a son Elbert who survives. She also leaves the son's wife, Mabel, and her nephew Jimmy Milburn of the home, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed comparatively good health most of her life until, she had the misfortune of falling in her bedroom and breaking her hip. She passed away a week later.

She was the last member of a large family of 14 children. Sisters and brothers preceding her in death were Elizabeth Neuenschwander, Barbara Driver, Anna Garber, Mattie Hofstetter, Salome Loganbill, Rose Hofstetter, Clara Moser, Jacob, Daniel, John P., William, and David Loganbill, and an infant.

Funeral services were held at the Bethel Mennonite church Monday, Sept. 21, at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Ernest Porzelius officiating. Interment was in the Bethel cemetery. Hymns were sung by a quartet composed of Lawrence Aeschbacher, Elmer Garber, Daniel Garber, and Roy Gerber, accompanied by Mrs. Homer Garber. Nephews served as pall bearers, and flowers were carried by nieces.
