• Jacob F. Lehman, 81, well known retired farmer of Halstead died at the Halstead Hospital on Jan. 14. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Halstead Mennonite Church, with Rev. Arnold Funk in charge. Mr. Lehman was born at Giesburg, Germany and came to Halstead in 1898. His wife, the former Christina Langenwalter, died last September. Surviving are two sons, one daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one brother, C. B. Lehman of Freeman, S. D.

JACOB F. LEHMAN

Jacob Fredrich Lehman, son of Heinrich and Elizabeth Hirschler Lehman, was born Sept. 26, 1883 at Geisburg, Germany and died at the Halstead, Kan. Hospital on Jan. 14, 1965 at the age of 81 years, three months and 28 days.

He was the third child in a family of six children, five of whom (four brothers and one sister)grew to majority. In 1898 he came to this country with his father, his sister Elizabeth, and his brothers Henry and John. An older brother, Christian had come to this country earlier. His mother died in Germany before the family came to America. He received his education in Germany and at District 18, Halstead.

He was baptized and became a member of the church on April 10, 1898 before leaving Germany. Later he transferred his membership to the Halstead Mennonite Church, of which he was a faithful member.

He was married to Christina Langenwalter on May 20, 1909 and together they made their livelihood on farms in the Halstead community. Mrs. Lehman preceded him in death last Sept. 19.

He is survived by two sons, Irvin A. of Topeka, Kan. and Oswald R. of Halstead, and one daughter, Mildred, Mrs. Glenn Fundenbberger of Albany, Ore.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one brother, Christian B. of Freeman, S. D.

His many friends will remember him as a quiet, cheerful and friendly neighbor.
