GEORGE LEHMAN
George Lehman, son of Christian and Susan (Lehman) Lehman, was born Nov. 10, 1872 near Lima, Ohio; passed away after a lengthy period of failing health at the Bluffton Community hospital, Bluffton, Ohio on Feb. 9, 1960 at the age of 87 years and three months.
On Dec. 29, 1900 he was married to Nettie Burkhart, who survives. There were no children. He was the last member of a family of 13 children, eight girls and five boys.
Most of his life was spent in the Pandora, Ohio area as an efficient cabinet maker. Woodcraft became an outstanding achievement of his for which he gained much recognition. The beautiful grandfather's clock which he fashioned almost entirely of wood has been an object of much admiration for years by those who have seen it. Many other unusual gems of craftsmanship have drawn scores of visitors to the Lehman home in recent years.
“Uncle George,” as he was known to many, was a quiet unassuming man, and his firm trust and faith in his God was apparent to all whom he contacted. This is the best memory we have of him. He was a member of the Salem Mennonite church near Elida where he faithfully attended when health permitted.
Funeral services were held in the Pandora Missionary church Feb. 11, 1960, with Rev. Richard Martin and the Rev. Harlan Wright officiating. Interment was made in the Zion cemetery near Pandora.
