text of obituary:
Berne, Ind., Oct. 5 — Death dealt harshly upon this community yesterday. Two mothers, both highly respected and beloved by every one who knew them, were called from their families through death.
Yesterday morning at 9:45 o'clock, Mrs. Herbert F. Sprunger, aged 36 years, of Hartford township, mother of five small children, passed away. Last evening at 10 o'clock Mrs. David C. Lehman, aged 69 years, died at her home one and a half miles north of Berne.
The funeral services for both of the deceased ladies will be held next Friday at the Mennonite church and burials will be made at the M. B. E. cemetery. The rites for Mrs. Lehman will be held at 9 o'clock from the home and at 9:30 o'clock from the church. The services for Mrs. Sprunger will be held at 1;30 o'clock from the home, five miles southwest of town, and at 2 o'clock from the church.
The family, relatives and friends of Mrs. Herbert F. Sprunger, nee Elma Neuenschwander, were deeply grieved yesterday forenoon shortly before 10 o'clock, when she passed away following a brief illness. Her condition had been reported to be critical and although her death was not altogether unexpected, it nevertheless came, as a severe blow to her people.
On Saturday, September 17, Mrs. Sprunger became the mother of a baby girl. The mother and her babe were getting along very nicely until on Monday, september26, the day when Mrs. Sprunger planned to arise from her bed, she became ill and gradually grew weaker. Last Thursday she passed into a state of delirium and ever since her condition was alarming. A blood clot on her brain is believed to have been responsible for her death. — Adam's Co. Witness.
