MRS. EDITH LEHMAN
The funeral of Mrs. Edith Lehman, 51, of Park View, Harrisonburg, Va., was conducted at 2 p.m. July 20, at the Eastern Mennonite College Auditorium by Dr. Myron Augsburger and Rev. Harold Eshleman.
Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Ira B. Miller at Weavers Mennonite Cemetery.
Mrs. Lehman died Saturday morning, July 18, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for eight weeks.
She was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Catharine Dulmer Vander Ploeg and was born April 18, 1919 at Elphis, Colo. She was an EMC graduate and had been a member of the nursing staff at the Virginia Mennonite Home for the past eight years and nursing supervisor for three years. She was a member of the Mennonite Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Salvation Army.
On Aug. 22, 1943 she married Dr. G. Irvin Lehman, who survives. Together they served as medical missionaries and did relief work in Ethiopia, Lebanon, Greece, Jordan and Israel. Dr. Lehman presently is a professor of Old Testament at Eastern Mennonite College.
Also surviving are a daughter, Eunice Lehman at home, three sons, George, Peter and Timothy Lehman, all at home, and two brothers, Rev. Neil VanderPloeg, missionary in the Congo, and Paul VanderPloeg of Sugar Loaf. N. Y.
