Long-Time Minister And Bishop Dies

CHRISTIAN K. LEHMAN OF MILLERSVILLE, PA. ORDAINED IN 1917

Millersville, Pa. — Funeral services for Christian K. Lehman, 79, long-time minister and bishop of the Lancaster Conference, were held at the Millersville Mennonite Church on March 15. He died at his home in Millersville on March 12.

Bishop Lehman graduated from the Millersville State Normal School in 1909 and began his teaching career at the age of 19. He was ordained to the ministry in 1917, and in 1938 was ordained a bishop for the Manor District.

During his long ministry Bishop Lehman conducted over 30 courses in choral music, performed approximately 100 weddings and preached many funeral sermons. He was also a farmer for 50 years.

He was married to Mary R. Leaman on June 7, 1906. She survives with their five children and 33 grandchildren.
