OSKER LARSEN

Oskar Larsen was born July 19, 1912 Broenderslev, Denmark. In 1929 he came Canada with his parents and other members of the family and settled in the Neepawa, Man., area where he later farmed.

In October 1942 he married Eleanor Byne Walker, who predeceased him on September 9, 1965.

From 1942 to 1946 he served his country the RCAF. Following his discharge he moved to Elm Creek, Man. where he farmed until his homegoing. He served on the local school boards for about 15 years, and was also active in other community functions, having served as a member on numerous committees and advisory boards.

In summer, 1959 he was baptized upon the confession of his faith and became a member of the Carman Gospel Light Church, where he served his Lord in various capacities. He was an avid reader; the Bible and books related to Bible exposition were his favorites.

During his illness he often lamented the fact that he was unable to read as before and frequently requested Scripture be read for him. His dauntless faith and courage were an inspiration to his family as well as to the hospital staff.

In October, 1966 he married Mabel Friesen of Carman, who survives him. Also surviving him are two daughters: Anna of Columbus, Ohio and Linda (Mrs. J. W.) Watt of Winnipeg, three brothers and two sisters.

On July 17 Oskar was peacefully taken to be "forever with the Lord." The memorial service was conducted from the Elm Cree Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. Peter Doerksen and Rev. A. Quiring officiating.
