Retired Minister Dies at Age 97
Eureka, Ill. — Funeral services were conducted at the Congerville (Ill.) Mennonite Church for Rev. Lee Lantz, 97, retired Mennonite minister and a native of the Congerville community. He died Nov. 22 at the Eureka Hospital.
Rev. Lantz was a charter member and first pastor of the Congerville Church. During his years as an active minister he also served Mennonite pastorates at Normal, Ill., Nampa, Idaho, and Middlebury, Ind., and was minister and superintendent of the Mennonite Gospel Mission in Chicago. He traveled widely in evangelistic work.
Born June 15, 1873 to Solomon and Malinda (Yoder) Lantz, he was a graduate of Eureka College and Moody Bible Institute. He married Ella Reeser on Nov. 27, 1902 at Danvers, Ill. She died in 1966. For the past 20 years Rev. Lantz had lived in retirement at Winona Lake, Ind.
Survivors include three sons, Wilbur of Nampa, Idaho, Lowell of San Diego, Calif., and Evans of Spokane, Wash, and one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Sharp of Congerville.
Burial was made in the Imhoff cemetery south of Congerville.
