HENRY LANSIDEL
Henry Lansidel, son of John and Christina (Hornbacker) Landseadal, was born Nov. 13, 1903, in Odessa, Russia. He left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour at his home near Dinuba, Calif. at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 13, 1959. He reached the age of 55 years and nine months.
When he was a child of six years, he left Russia with his parents and came to the United States. They made their home near Joes, Colo. Here he attended public school for a few years.
In May 1920 he and his parents moved to California and made their home in the Reedley-Dinuba area. He enjoyed California a great deal and also he many Christian young people that he associated with.
As a young man he recognized his lost condition and had the joy of accepting Christ as his personal Savior. He was baptized on Nov. 4, 1923, and joined the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church for fellowship. He remained a faithful member of that church until his homegoing.
On July 17, 1928, he joined hands with Helen Brandt in holy wedlock. They were permitted to share the joys and difficulties of life for over 31 years. This union was blessed with four sons and four daughters. Two sons died in infancy.
He was physically a strong healthy man all his life, working hard to provide for his family. He loved his Lord and sought to serve Him. He read the Word of God with us and admonished us to walk in God's ways. He was tender and showed his love for us in many ways.
He loved the church and was active in it. He served in the Fest Committee and was a member of the Hartland Christian Camp Association. As a young man he was an active member of the Watchman's Club.
He had not been feeling too strong for the last month or so. On Sunday, August 2, we took him to the hospital. He was released the following Friday but remained rather weak and in the last days his strength ebbed away rapidly. the doctors diagnosed his illness as leukemia.
We will miss him greatly but we sorrow not as those who have no hope, for we know we shall meet him again in the presence of our Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Lansidel of Dinuba; two sons and four daughters, Vera, Mrs. Robert F. Hofer of Dnuba, Evelyn, Mrs. John A. Kroeker of Oakland, Henrietta, Mrs. Benny Willems of Fresno, Kenneth Christine and Richard of Dinuba; three sons-in-law; seven grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Landseadal, Dinuba; four brothers, John Landseadal of Yale, South Dakota, Gus Landseadal of Bakersfield, Florin Landeadal of Dinuba, and Reinhold Landseadal of Kingsburg; five sisters, Katherine, Mrs. Pete F. Brandt of Reedley, Emma, Mrs. John Schafer of Fresno, Flora, Mrs. Henry Markus of Fresno, Rose, Mrs. Eli Mendal of Dinuba, and Delores, Mrs. Cecil Johnson of Dinuba; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Reedley, Calif. August 15, 1959, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. H. R. Wiens and Rev. Clarence Hofer officiating. — The Family.
