NICHOLAS A. LANGEMANN

Nicholas A. Langemann of Coaldale, Alta. passed away Apr. 11. He was born in 1913 in Gnadenheim, Ukraine. When he was 13, the family immigrated to a farm in Coaldale. He married Hilda Rempel in Swalwell, Alta. in 1933. Both were music lovers, and music remained a distinctive feature of their home. He was initially a farmer, but later worked for 2 dairies and an agricultural chemical company. They lived in Coaldale, Chilliwack, B.C., Illinois and Winnipeg. He is remembered as one who loved God and served his church. During his 6 years as caretaker of Coaldale MB Church, he beautified the church with numerous trees, shrubs and flowers. For years he served as an usher in Lakeview MB Church and College Drive Community Church in Lethbridge, Alta. Their home provided a safe haven for people from various ethnic backgrounds, for single parents with various needs and for new Christians needing Bible study groups to grow in. He was a bird lover, a gardener with an extraordinary commitment to plants and trees, and a gourmet cook. He is survived by his wife; children Rita Stobbe, Ralph, Sigrid Schibler and Helen Masson; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral was in Coaldale MB Church, with Henry Fehr and Rudy Heidebrecht ministering.
