Former Missionary To China Called by Death at Bethel Home

Miss Wilhelmina Kuyf, 65, former missionary and relief worker in China, died Monday afternoon at the Bethel Home for Aged in Newton.

A native of Antwerp, Belgium, Miss Kuyf came to America at an early age with her parents, Peter J. and Cornelia Kuyf. She went to China in the mid-30s under the General Conference Mennonite Church, serving in Hopei Province. Due to the war she was interned in China, returning home on the Gripsholm. She again returned to China for several years of work under the MCC, and then served another brief term under the Mission Board in West China.

In 1951 Miss Kuyf came to Newton and served for some years as administrative assistant in the Board of Missions office. During the past few years of failing health she had resided at Bethel Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Bethel College Mennonite Church, with Rev. Russell L. Mast officiating.
