MRS. HILDA BECKER KRUSE

Mrs. Hilda Becker Kruse, daughter of John J. and Effie Unruh Becker, was born on August 14, 1897, in Harvey County, Kansas, and died at her home on the morning of March 25, 1962 after an illness of approximately four months. She reached the age of 64 years, seven months, and six days.

She grew to womanhood in the rural community north of Halstead and attended school there. On Jan. 22, 1919 she was married to Otto Kruse and together they made their home on a farm in the Garden community.

On March 13, 1921, she was baptized by Rev. J. E. Amstutz upon confession of her faith in Jesus Christ, and received into the fellowship of the First Mennonite Church of Halstead. Later, because of the nearness of the Garden Mennonite Church, she transferred her membership to that church on May 28, 1933. Here she took an active part in the work of the church, finding great joy in teaching her Sunday school class. On July 29, 19956, she transferred her membership back to the Halstead Church and was a faithful member there at the time of her death.

She was the mother of four children. They are Elma and husband Roy Rudiger of Hutchinson, Kansas; Ada and husband Lawrence Stucky of Newton, Kansas; Waldo and wife Geneva of Sunset, Utah; and Alphie and wife Irene of Halstead, Kansas. She leaves to mourn, her husband, her family including 15 grandchildren, two having preceded her in death; two brothers, Rudolph Becker of Modesto, Calif. and Earl Becker of Beaumont, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Wolfe of Hawthorne, Calif. and Mrs. Sadie Unruh of Goessel, Kansas.

Funeral services were held March 26 in the First Mennonite Church of Halstead with Rev. Arnold Funk and Rev. Peter w. Goering officiating.
