CARRIE ALICE KROPF

Carrie Alice (Miller) Kropf, daughter of the late Levi J. and Mattie (Zook) Miller, was born near Garden City, Mo. on Jan. 4, 1890; died Nov. 2, 1962 at the Lebanon, Ore. Community Hospital after an extended illness, aged 72 years, 10 months, two days.

On Nov. 9, 1909 she was united in marriage to Amos J. Kropf, who survives. Also surviving are three sons and seven daughters, Nona, Mrs. Emery Headings of Halsey, Ore., Ruby, Mrs. Albert Hershberger, Verda, Mrs. Sam Ropp, and Verna, Mrs. Aaron Ropp of Albany, Ore., Leo of Phoenix, Ariz., Harry of Albany, Priscilla, Mrs. Eldon Birky, Lottie, Mrs. Joe Miller, and Victor, all of Halsey, Ore., Malinda, Mrs. Melvin Mast of Phoenix, Ariz.; 53 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; six brothers and three sisters, Ada Shetler of Hubbard, Ore., John of Filer, Idaho, Ora of Kalispell, Mont., Allie Kauffman of Twin Falls, Idaho, Emery of Nampa, Idaho, Sam of Twin Falls, Idaho, Edna Wideman of Unionville, Ontario, Floyd of Nampa, Idaho, and Joe of Rupert, Idaho; also one aunt, Mrs. Cassie Hostetler of Middlebury, Ind.

In her youth she united with the Sycamore Grove Mennonite Church in Missouri. She and her husband moved to Oregon with their family in the fall of 1922. In 1944 due to their health they went to Phoenix, Ariz. where they were instrumental in starting the first Mennonite church in this area. They spent the past 17 winters at Phoenix and have their membership with the Paradise Valley Conservative Mennonite Church where she was a faithful member until death.

On Nov. 9, 1959 their 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated at Phoenix, Ariz. with all the ten children present. Mother's hands were always busy doing things for others. She pieced many quilts for relief and needy ones. This included 61 quilt tops in the year 1961. She was greatly concerned for her children and grandchildren, also for the unsaved about her.

Funeral services were held Nov. 6, 1962 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Albany, Oregon with Verl Nofziger, Allen Erb and Wilbert Kropf in charge. She was laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery.
