SARA DOERKSEN KROEKER
Sara (Doerksen) Kroeker, daughter of G. B. and Agnate Derksen, was born May 20, 1905 at Incan, Kan. Our wife and mother passed to her reward on Dec. 24, 1963, at the McPherson County Hospital. She reached the age of 58 years, seven months and four days.
She was baptized upon her confession of faith in her Redeemer Jesus Christ on July 9, 1922, by Rev. Klaas Kroeker at the Bethel Mennonite Church. Here she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was united in marriage with Henry E. Kroeker on May 4, 1927, with whom she shared life's joys and sorrows almost 37 years. This marriage was blessed with one daughter and three sons.
She was a fine Christian mother who not only showed her faith in God through words but also in life. She attended the services of her church the last time on Sunday morning, Sept. 15, after which she was unable to attend because of illness.
Our mother enjoyed good health practically all of her life. She had two major surgeries from which she fully recovered. She began to fail in health on August 29, 1963. Medical aid was sought at various hospitals. She resigned herself to her illness in the last months of her life, in full submission to the Lord's will. She expressed implicit faith in her Saviour and admonished her children and friends with words of comfort and solace.
Those who mourn her sudden death are: Her deeply bereaved husband, Henry E. Kroeker; the children, Hilda and husband Alfred Friesen of Meade, Kan., Elmer and wife Renetta of Inman, Kan., George and wife Shirley of Turpin, Okla., and Harold and wife Jane of Hutchinson, Kan.; nine grandchildren; brothers, George and Jake Doerksen and their families; four sisters, Anna, Mrs. John W. Wiens, Agnes, Mrs. Abe B. Neufeld, Marie, Mrs. Martin E. Kroeker; Justina, Mrs. George E. Kroeker, and their families, all of Inman, Kan; one sister-in-law, Mrs. J. T. Wiens and family of Salem, Oregon; six brothers-in-law, Abe Kroeker of Buhler, Kan., Peter, Jake, Martin and George Kroeker and families of Inman.
Funeral services were held in the Bethel Church Dec. 27, 1963 in charge of the pastor, Rev. P. A. Wedel, assisted by Rev. John Thiessen. Iinterment was made in the North Inman cemetery.
