Memorial Services Held for Accident Victim in Oklahoma
J. D. KROEKER, CORN, OKLA., FATALLY INJURED WHEN HIS CAR WAS STRUCK BY TRAIN.
Memorial services held recently at Corn, Okla., for J. D. Kroeker, 69, who was killed when his car was struck by a train near Bessie Saturday, August 23, were largely attended by relatives and friends.
The services were conducted by Rev. H. R. Wiens, Rev. J. J. Wiebe and Rev. Stobbe.
The Washita Co. Enterprise reports the following details of the accident in which Mr. Kroeker lost his life:
"The last morning he read a portion of Luke 9 and prayed, asking especially for protection in that day. About 11 a.m. he ate dinner and then drove away quite happy on a business trip to Elk City.
"On that trip about four miles west of Bessie that awful accident happened in which he was instantly killed. At a rather dangerous crossing a train (a motor car) hit him and his car, which caused his death. This happened Saturday, August 23,at 11:53 a.m."
