MRS. ELIZABETH KROEKER

Elizabeth Pauls Kroeker, daughter of Henry and Agatha Ediger Pauls, was born Feb. 19, 1889 near Inman, Kan. Here she attended the rural school.

As a young girl she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized by the late Rev. John Esau and united with the Zoar Church of Inman.

On Nov. 14, 1912, she was united to John W. Kroeker in holy matrimony. This union, which lasted 51 years, nine months and 22 days was blessed with three sons and two daughters. We made our first home on a farm west of Inman. In 1930 we decided to move to Reedley, Calif. where we made our home on a farm. Here we had the joy of uniting with the Mennonite Brethren Church.

Our mother prayed much for her children and was greatly concerned that they might know the way of life. She enjoyed comparatively good health until a few years ago when she had a heart attack. She never completely conquered this weakness. About two weeks ago she had another light attack and we took her to the hospital. She witnessed to the fact that her way was open and she longed to go Home to Glory. The Lord honored this desire and our mother could depart in peace July 6, 1964. She reached the age of 75 years, four months and 17 days.

Those who remain to mourn her departure are her husband; two daughters, Irene, Mrs. John Goertzen of Inman, Kan. and Lillian, Mrs. Don Westlund of Fresno, Calif.; three sons, John of Reedley, Henry of Sanger, and Rudy of Fresno, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, George Pauls of Reedley, John Pauls of Inman, Kan., Pete Pauls of Buhler, Kan.; three sisters, Justina, Mrs. Floyd Canada of Denver, Colo., Katherine, Mrs. P. W. Kroeker of Hutchinson, Kan., and Agatha, Mrs. A. M. Dirks of Hesston, Kan.

One grandchild preceded her in death.

The memorial service was held in the Mennonite Brethren Church of Reedley, Calif.
