MRS. ALICE KROEKER

(Mrs.) Alice Kroeker of Winkler, Man. , after struggling with cancer for 13 years, said to her husband on December 14, "I wish the Lord would take me home tonight." One week later, on December 21, her prayer came true.

She was born to Alex and Susie Weingart Nuernberg on September 28, 1911, in McClusky, North Dakota. She spent her childhood and received her schooling there. At the age of ten she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and Lord, and was baptized soon after into the Mennonite Brethren church at McClusky by Rev. Ludwig Seibel. In the fall of 1928 she registered at Winkler Bible Institute, and after attending for four years graduated in 1933. During that time she met Jacob E. Kroeker, and on August 11 , 1935 Rev. A.H . Unruh married the couple in McClusky. They made their home in Winkler, where they have been since, except for three years in Altona, Man.

She is remembered by her family as a virtuous woman and a loving and self-sacrificial mother. She brought cheer and joy into the lives of those she knew. She is survived by her husband, her daughter, Gloria and Don Dyck of Winkler, two sons,. Harold and Nancy of Halifax and Clarence of Vancouver (her first child Kenneth Orlando died at birth in 1937); her mother (Mrs.) Susie Nuernberg of Lodi, Cal.; three sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on December 27 in the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church, with pastor John D. Stoesz in charge. Retired missionary Rev. A.A. Unruh, a close friend of the family, gave the message.
