MRS. HETTIE KREIDER

Mrs. Hettie Elvina Kreider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Buckwalter, was born August 12, 1867, near Byerstown, Penna. and passed away at her home near Palmyra, Missouri Friday, June 26, 1953, aged 85 years, ten months, and 14 days. In her childhood she attended services at the Hershey Mennonite church of her home community and as a young woman became a member of the Mennonite Church to which she remained faithful.

In 1890 she was married to the late J. M. Kreider. To this union were born nine children, three of whom preceded her in death — George Ezra, Philip Owen, and Harry Sanford. She leaves the following children: M. Lena, at home; Mrs. Anna Bender, Jesse B., John F., of Palmyra, Missouri; Daniel K. of Quincy, Ill.; and Mrs. A. L. Glick of Minot, North Dakota. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank of Lancaster, Penna., Jacob of Lititz, Penna., Ira and Harry of Palmyra, Missouri; and one sister, Ruth, of Hannibal, Missouri.

She possessed a quiet and reserved disposition and preferred to serve the Lord and the Church in ways often unnoticed. She was a faithful companion to her husband, a self-sacrificing mother to her children, and a devoted member of the church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

All the immediate members of the family were present for the funeral as well as Jacob Buckwalter of Lititz, Penna. and a host of neighbors and friends. Services were in charge of Bishop Daniel Kauffman, of Cherry Box, Missouri. He was assisted at the home by Bro. Leroy Gingerich of Versailles, Missouri, and at the church by the brethren Amos Gingerich of Parnell, Iowa, and J. Y. Swartzendruber of Kalona, Iowa. The sermon was delivered by Bro. Nelson Kauffman of Hannibal, Missouri. Committal services at the Palmyra cemetery were conducted by Nelson Kauffman, assisted by Bro. John Yoder, of Parnell, Iowa.

An octet composed of members from the Hannibal and Pea Ridge churches furnished the music. Pall bearers were six grandsons — Daniel Kreider, Ervie Glick, Maurice Kreider, David Kreider, Nelson Kreider, and Wendel Kreider.
