MRS. ELIZABETH KREHBIEL

Elizabeth Albright Krehbiel, daughter of Jacob and Marie (Stucky) Albright, was born June 3, 1879, at Freeman, S. D. At the age of five she moved with her parents to Pretty Prairie, Kan., where she lived the rest of her life.

She was baptized by Rev. J. J. Flickinger on her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, becoming a member of the Pretty Prairie Mennonite Church, of which she remained a faithful member.

On August 16, 1896 she was married to John R. Krehbiel. Together they shared life's joys and sorrows for 55 years. They established their first home east of Pretty Prairie. This union was blessed with seven children, all of whom are still living. They retired to their home in Pretty Prairie, where they had the privilege to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Aug. 16, 1946.

Her husband passed away Sept. 10, 1951, and she lived alone in her home for eight years. She busied herself with needlework and crocheting. Her children and grandchildren will long remember her by her handiwork.

In 1934 she had a goitre operation from which complications later caused her to submit to surgery again. In 1953 a tracheotomy was performed which aided her breathing, but caused her much anxiety and discomfort. She bore this affliction patiently, but often expressed her desire to leave this world.

She spent much time reading her Bible and found comfort in the promise, “As they days, so shall thy strength be.”

In March 1959 she entered the Prairie Sunset Home, where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends and received good care until she passed to her eternal home Jan. 6, 1963, at the age of 83 years, seven months and three days.

Mourning her departure are five sons, Herbert J. of Moundridge, Arthur H. of Kingman, John L. of Omaha, Neb., Ed R. and Walter H., both of Pretty Prairie; two daughters, Edna (Mrs. Noah Gering) of Rapid City, S. D., and Anna (Mrs. Chris H. Graber), Pretty Prairie; one son-in-law; five daughters-in-law; one brother, Peter J. Albright, Pretty Prairie; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Two grandchildren, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Jan. 6, 1963 at the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie, with Rev. Ben Rahn officiating. She was laid to rest in the church cemetery.
