MRS. REGINA KREHBIEL

Regina Schrag Krehbiel, daughter of Jacob and Katharina Stucky Schrag, was born in Russia, June 2, 1871, and departed this life on Friday morning, June 17, 1949, shortly before 6:00 o’clock. She attained the age of 78 years and 15 days.

At the age of three, the came to America with her parents and settled in the vicinity of Moundridge, Kansas. Here she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood.

In her youth she was baptized on the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was taken into the membership of the Hopefield Mennonite Church. Later, with the organization of the Eden church, she transferred her membership, where she was always happy to attend services whenever possible, and remained a faithful member until her death.

On January 16, 1889, she was united in marriage to Jacob Krehbiel, Krehbiel [sic], with whom she was permitted to share joys and sorrows for over 60 years. This union was blessed with seven sons and seven daughters.

On January 16, 1939, it was their privilege to observe their golden wedding anniversary in their home with their family and relatives.

She was a loving wife and mother, deeply interested in the spiritual welfare of her loved ones, asking the Lord daily for His protecting care.

Although ailing, much of her joy and happiness in life came from serving her family. Her latest deep concern was her son, Pete, who has been ailing for many months, and she spent many days visiting him. Because of his illness, he was unable to attend her funeral.

She always enjoyed having her children and grandchildren in her home. Especially was she always grateful for the song and prayer services in her home by the young people and the pastor of her church.

We mourn because of her passing, which is much too soon; however, as we think of her sudden passing and peaceful departure, we would say, “ ‘Tis not death, but a triumphant victory over death!” And we rejoice to look forward to that time when we shall meet her in the eternal happiness.

Four sons and four daughters preceded her in death, two sons and four daughters in infancy. Also three grandsons and one granddaughter preceded her in death. The passing of Eddie, the youngest son, at the age of 13 years, was followed by the death of Henry, the oldest, who was fatally injured in an accident at the age of 40 years, leaving his wife, Edna, and four small children. These heartaches and sorrows were only to be accentuated by the tragic death of her grandson, Marvin.

Those who mourn her sudden departure are her deeply bereaved husband; three sons. Carl, his wife Anna and family; Pete, his wife Ida and family; Ernest, his wife Matilda and family; three daughters, Asta of the home; Martha, Mrs. Bernard Graber and family; Mary, Mrs. Arnold Ratzlaff and family; 22 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.; 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 half-brother, 2 step-sisters, 1 step-brother and a host of relatives and friends — The Family.
